Also available are resources in the form of mom groups- check for local Facebook groups, church groups, meetups and even with your physician or midwife’s office. Many local groups exist that can offer additional support including churches and women’s groups. The Postpartum Support International group offers support to women who may be dealing with maternal mental health issues. For the Georgia chapter, click HERE.

Additionally for those parents that may have a child in need of therapeutic services due to prematurity or delayed developmental milestones contact your state’s early intervention program. For example, here in Georgia the Babies Can’t Waitprogram offers services to children (ages 0-3).

I will continue to add to this list as I learn of more groups both locally in Georgia as well as nationally. If you are in need of resources such as doulas, midwives, lactation consultants or even sex therapists please feel free to reach out and I can direct you to some great ones in the Atlanta metro area as well as a few others that I am familiar with in other states.

Yours in health,

Dr. J
